While the weather here in the United States is cold, the 2022 spring trends will serve to distract you from this cold. During the spring and summer fashion seasons, a carefree levity emanates from new season styles that suit life’s many moments and moods. Basically, it’s not too early to start adding spring essentials to your cart. One of my responsibilities as an Instagram influencer is to keep up with all the latest fashion trends. Y2K fashion is still very much in style, including halter necklines, ultra-low-rise pants and micro-minis, and playful mix-and-match jewelry. In addition, there is plenty of platform shoes and twee clothing (Loved by Taylor Swift and Zooey Deschanel). Take inspiration from these drifts when it’s time to choose springtime staples like lightweight layers and ankle-bearing shoes. You can also throw on some cool, casual pieces for weekends.
The spring-summer collections have thrown new spins on old favorites, splashed color all over the catwalks, and designed outfits that everyone wants to wear. For this article, I researched every Instagram influencer and social media influencer page I could find to find the key 2022 fashion trends that you can shop for now. Now let’s take a closer look at each of these spring and summer trends:
Micro tops
From the practical, sporty, and elegant to sexy – Miu Miu, Giambattista Valli, Lanvin, and Valentino, many designers came with now Micro tops. With increasingly narrow micro versions or as a bandeau, tops and bras will be part of the everyday summer wardrobe undercoats and suit jackets, even with voluminous skirts.
90s Sleek
Even 30 years later, lace-up tops, crop tops, and tank tops are still in style. Along with crop tops and wide hip trousers, waist chains, as we know them from Chanel, are also very popular. Add plateaus, and you have the perfect look.
Black and White
There are many things about these contrasting combinations, but basic isn’t one of them. Its stripes and polka dots make it graphic, yes, but it’s also playful, bold, and, in short, head-turning. Burch’s corseted dress was subtle and elegant. Schiaparelli’s disco-worthy top and skirt were louche and sophisticated, and Balmain’s maillot and statement shoulder blazer were done up in spots was a throwback to the 80s that we love.
Power Suits
The oversized suit jacket is another trend we are very pleased to carry over directly from the Autumn/Winter 2021 collections, as it proves suit jackets aren’t just for 9-to-5 office workers. Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, and the usual trend designers have interpreted the suit jacket more contemporary while keeping the same idea of empowerment in mind.
Low Waistlines
We’re seeing the return of the low waist again, and not just in jeans. Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection honors its comeback with hip trousers and skirts featuring an ultra-low waist. However, Miu Miu is not the only designer to use these rebalanced proportions of Y2K and schoolgirl aesthetics on the runway. Valentino and Dior chose low-cut boyfriend jeans paired with voluminous shirts and oversized jackets.
Bridal Vibes
If you’re not planning to say “I do” in 2022, that won’t stop you from dressing up and showing off in all white. We saw those ethereal gowns on the runways of Givenchy, McQueen, and Vuitton, where they made dreamy entrances to make 2022 fashion trends even shinier.
Big Dress Energy
This summer trends really require a lot of space. Voluminous dresses and even hip-hugging pants not only make us feel more confident, but they also allow us to keep our distance. Social distancing or not, these dresses make us stand out, even from far away.
Cutout-Details
Peek-a-boo cut-outs have dominated the catwalks. Cut-outs were one of the hottest trends of last year, and several brands have decided to bring them back for 2022 trends. In particular, Saint Laurent’s and Stella McCartney’s skin-tight bodies were seductive, while Rick Owens opted for a Gothic version of the trend.
Paty Inspired Dresses
Perhaps due to months of lockdown, designers showed party-inspired styles for spring 2022. There’s the full-on fringe trend found at Proenza Schouler, ChloĆ©, Jonathan Simkai, and Altuzarra, with a whimsical yet elegant feel that transforms any outfit’s mood instantly. Wear a full fringe skirt once the weather starts warming up; wear a full fringe skirt – the delightful effect of tassels and dancing trim will be utterly delightful.
Glitter
A mood board featuring Jessica Rabbit makes glittery sequin dresses appear exactly how we’ve wanted. Among the designer shows, Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of the Spanish brand Loewe, displayed waterfall-shaped dresses with split hems in monochrome and contrasting colors, while Givenchy and Louis Vuitton chose crystal trim.
Knitwear and Crochet
Knitting combines tradition and modernity in its material processing. Next season, the designers in Paris proved that “old stitches” will be all the rage. This timeless and seasonless trend will finish our looks even next summer, from the crocheted version by Marine Serre to the lighter, almost transparent versions from Acne Studios and Copernic.
Romantic Style
Markarian, Jason Wu, and Carolina Herrera collections reflect a romantic Regency-core-meets-’60s era glamour aesthetic. The collection of floral dresses with fitted bodices and puff sleeves, ladylike suits adorned with pearls and pointed-toe heels, and bedecked bubble hems with rhinestone earrings have a refined elegance that will make you want to dress up again.
Transparent Lingeries
As in previous seasons, underwear (along with bare skin) will once again play a major role in 2022 trends. Thanks to the light and almost invisible clothing, giving us a clear view of everything underneath through layering and transparency. Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, and Saint Laurent do well-using fashion to draw attention to the right places.
Vinyl & Leather
Besides being a must-have right now, this trend will also be one of the popular 2022 spring trends. The versatility of leather makes it the perfect addition to any wardrobe. From the classic biker jacket to the leather pants, from the jacket-skirt-suit made of purple-colored leather from Lanvin, or elegant in black from Chanel. We can’t wait to wear our leather coats again in spring.
